Preview of my new jazz album soon to be released.

The Album contains a mixture of originals and old I mean OLD tunes that I arranged for the jazz quartet. The example below is about 2 mins of my arrangement of the tune Soul Cake a traditional folk song to be sung at Halloween. Many of my good friends recorded tracks for this album and I am particularly excited to share with you their hard work an excellent musicianship. On the track below you will hear Dan Twaddell on sax, Nate Smith on bass, Toni Bonardi on piano and me on drums.

New CD released this winter

A quick post about a new CD released this winter. The CD features three meditations written and narrated by Jessica Tupa, and music I composed and arranged.

Psalm 23 Premiere

Special guest Sarah Santilli, music educator and choir director, joins me to discuss my piece Psalm 23 and its premiere at Liberty Benton Middle School on December 8th.

Below you can check out the excerpt of the piece we discuss and a few questions from the “Lunch with the Composer” session the day of the concert.

The singers did a great job. I had a wonderful time working with them in rehearsal and talking to them about music over pizza!

Fellowship and a Premiere

Some more exciting news this week:

I received a Fellowship from the OSU Arts Initiative! Also my piece Psalm 23 was just premiered in Findlay, OH.

“The Arts Initiative at Ohio State has founded a Fellowship for Emerging Artists program, which will annually select 12 of the most promising visual and performing artists in central Ohio and provide them with necessary creative process, organizational and entrepreneurial skills. The year-long program will offer consultation and information needed to compose a life in which they can create their art and make a living. Fellows will refine their artistic voice, and learn research and application prep techniques for grants, fellowships, scholarships and residency programs, as well as ways to find and maintain partners in the community.”
